Formerly Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO, Meier brings extensive international luxury hospitality experience, having held senior roles with Raffles, Accor, and Minor Hotels. Jumeirah Group has confirmed the appointment of Thomas B Meier as its new Chief Executive Officer, placing a seasoned luxury hospitality executive at the helm as the group advances ambitious global expansion plans.
The appointment comes at a pivotal stage for Jumeirah, which is targeting a significant increase in its international footprint, with plans to substantially grow its portfolio of luxury hotels by the end of the decade. Meier assumes the role following his tenure as Chief Operating Officer since 2021 and a recent period serving as Interim CEO.
Leadership Continuity Amid Global Expansion
Meier’s elevation reflects a strategy of leadership continuity as Jumeirah scales across both established and emerging luxury destinations. During his time in senior management, he has been closely involved in shaping operational strategy, brand repositioning, and new market entry.
Notably, Meier oversaw Jumeirah’s first expansion into Africa, marked by the launch of Jumeirah Thanda Island in Tanzania and Jumeirah Thanda Safari in South Africa—properties that introduced a highly experiential, destination-led luxury model to the group’s portfolio.
Extensive Luxury Hospitality Experience
With a career spanning more than two decades, Meier brings deep operational expertise across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. His professional journey includes senior leadership roles with globally recognised hospitality brands such as Raffles Hotels & Resorts, Accor, and Minor Hotels.
His background includes overseeing hotel openings, regional operations, and brand integration across multiple continents—experience that aligns closely with Jumeirah’s growth-led strategy.
Pipeline Projects and Market Focus
Under Meier’s leadership, Jumeirah is progressing several high-profile developments. In Saudi Arabia, Jumeirah Shura Island Red Sea is scheduled to open as part of the Red Sea Development Project, reinforcing the brand’s presence in one of the region’s most closely watched tourism initiatives.
In Dubai, the upcoming Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab is nearing completion and will form a central component of the wider Marsa Al Arab development, adding a new flagship property to the group’s home market.
Strengthening Jumeirah’s Global Positioning
As CEO, Meier is expected to focus on expanding Jumeirah’s international presence while safeguarding brand integrity, operational excellence, and guest experience standards. The group’s long-term ambition is to establish Jumeirah as one of the world’s most influential luxury hospitality brands, balancing destination-led resorts with globally relevant urban icons.
