Dubai and Abu Dhabi Hospitality Sector Mobilises Support for Passengers Awaiting Flight Resumption

Travel disruptions across regional airspace have left thousands of passengers stranded across the Gulf, prompting hotels, real estate developers and local residents in the United Arab Emirates to offer emergency hospitality support. In cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi, several properties and hospitality operators are providing free accommodation, meals and assistance to travellers unable to continue their journeys.

As flight operations gradually resume in phases, many passengers remain in transit hubs across the UAE, searching for temporary accommodation while awaiting confirmation of onward travel.

Community and Business Leaders Step Forward

The disruption has sparked a strong community response, with individuals and businesses offering shelter and basic services to stranded passengers.

Among the notable efforts is that of UAE-based entrepreneur Dhiraj Jain, Chairman of 1XL Holdings, who opened his private farmhouse in Ajman to travellers affected by the flight disruptions. The property can accommodate around 200 people and has been equipped with temporary sleeping arrangements including mattresses and blankets.

Travellers staying at the property are also being provided meals and transportation support where needed, helping those who were unable to extend hotel stays or had already checked out of their accommodation.

Real Estate Developers Extend Temporary Housing Support

The UAE’s property sector has also stepped in to support travellers facing accommodation challenges.

Holiday home operator AraBnB has arranged temporary stays for several families in vacant rental properties. Meanwhile, real estate developers including Danube Properties and Peace Homes Developments have publicly offered free accommodation options for travellers seeking urgent shelter during the disruption.

Another developer, Imtiaz Developments, has announced that it will cover hotel stay expenses for tourists requiring immediate accommodation support and provide financial assistance for essential supplies where necessary.

Dubai Hotels Provide Complimentary Stays

Several hotels in Dubai have also joined the initiative, offering complimentary accommodation for affected passengers.

Mileo Hotel The Palm, located on Palm Jumeirah, has opened rooms for stranded travellers requiring overnight stays. Luxury property Palazzo Versace Dubai has also announced complimentary accommodation along with breakfast for guests unable to travel due to the flight disruptions.

These initiatives highlight the hospitality industry’s role in supporting travellers during unexpected travel interruptions.

Abu Dhabi Government Directs Hotels to Extend Guest Stays

Authorities in Abu Dhabi have taken coordinated action to support international travellers during the disruption.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has instructed hotels across the emirate to extend the stays of guests who cannot depart due to cancelled or delayed flights. The government will cover the cost of additional nights, ensuring that affected visitors are not left without accommodation.
