IHG to Launch First InterContinental Resort in Dubai
IHG Hotels & Resorts will introduce InterContinental Resort Portofino on The World Islands, marking the brand’s first resort under the InterContinental flag in Dubai. The 466-room luxury property is scheduled to open in early 2026 and will form part of The Heart of Europe development by Kleindienst Group.
The project strengthens IHG’s luxury and leisure footprint in the Middle East and reinforces Dubai’s position as a leading global destination for island-based hospitality experiences.
Prime Setting at The Heart of Europe
Located within The Heart of Europe, a multi-island destination inspired by European architecture and culture, the resort will offer a secluded beachfront environment while maintaining connectivity to Dubai’s skyline.
The development is designed as a self-sustained leisure destination featuring themed islands, waterfront promenades and curated hospitality experiences. Its positioning off Dubai’s coast creates a unique balance between privacy and accessibility.
466 Sea-View Rooms and Mediterranean Design
InterContinental Resort Portofino will feature 466 rooms and suites, all designed with full sea views. The architectural concept draws inspiration from the Italian Riviera, incorporating vibrant façades, balconies and Mediterranean detailing.
A distinctive six-level atrium will showcase floor-to-ceiling aquariums as part of The Heart of Europe Coral Institute, supporting marine life preservation and coral reef regeneration initiatives. The integration of sustainability and immersive design aligns with Dubai’s evolving eco-conscious tourism strategy.
The resort will also include a landscaped rooftop garden offering panoramic views of the Dubai skyline, creating an elevated leisure space within a coastal setting.
Italian Dining, Family Zones and Lifestyle Amenities
Guests can expect multiple dining venues centred on authentic Italian cuisine, reflecting the Portofino-inspired theme.
The resort will also introduce the Kingdom of Portofino, a dedicated family-focused area featuring a kids’ club, theatre and water-based play attractions. Additional facilities will include wellness amenities, beachfront leisure spaces and event venues tailored for weddings, corporate gatherings and destination celebrations.
Strengthening Dubai’s Luxury Resort Portfolio
The launch of InterContinental Resort Portofino adds to Dubai’s growing collection of high-end island and beachfront resorts. As international travel demand continues to rise, the project highlights IHG’s confidence in the emirate’s premium tourism market.
With Mediterranean-inspired architecture, full sea-view accommodations and sustainability-driven elements, InterContinental Resort Portofino is positioned to become a landmark leisure destination when it welcomes guests in 2026.
