Rosewood AMAALA to Redefine Regenerative Ultra-Luxury on the Red Sea

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been selected by Red Sea Global to manage Rosewood AMAALA, an ultra-luxury resort planned along Saudi Arabia’s west coast. Set within the ambitious AMAALA destination, the project will introduce a regenerative hospitality model that integrates wellness, sustainability, and environmental enhancement. Positioned along one of the world’s most ecologically significant marine environments, the resort is designed to align luxury travel with long-term ecological responsibility.

Location and Masterplan Context

Rosewood AMAALA will be located inside the Prince Mohammad bin Salman Nature Reserve, forming part of the expansive AMAALA masterplan along the Red Sea. Spanning over 4,000 square kilometres, the destination is being developed as an integrated wellness-focused tourism hub. Phase One of the Triple Bay masterplan is progressing, with the broader development expected to include 25 hotels, more than 3,000 hotel rooms, and approximately 900 luxury residences, alongside retail, wellness, and leisure facilities.

Commitment to Regenerative Tourism

The resort is structured around a regenerative philosophy that aims not only to minimise environmental impact but to actively restore and enhance surrounding ecosystems. The entire AMAALA destination is planned to operate on 100% renewable energy and targets a zero-carbon footprint, with zero waste to landfill goals.

Special environmental measures are being implemented to protect endangered Hawksbill and Green Turtle nesting areas near the site. Construction strategies, lighting design, and spatial planning are carefully aligned to ensure minimal disturbance to marine and coastal habitats.

Architecture and Design Philosophy

The architectural design is led by internationally acclaimed firm ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. The design integrates indoor and outdoor living while respecting the natural topography of the coastline and the Hijazi mountain landscape.

Natural materials, low-impact structures, and landscape-sensitive planning aim to create a tranquil setting where architecture complements rather than competes with the environment. The emphasis is on longevity, privacy, and seamless immersion into the surrounding ecosystem.

Accommodation and Residences

Rosewood AMAALA will offer 110 guest rooms and suites, along with 25 Rosewood-branded residences. Each space will reflect Rosewood’s “A Sense of Place” philosophy, incorporating regional influences while maintaining contemporary luxury standards. The residences are designed to provide privacy and exclusivity, blending resort-style amenities with residential comfort.

Culinary and Lifestyle Experiences

The property will feature a selection of dining venues, including fine dining restaurants, relaxed eateries, and beach-inspired lounges that capitalise on panoramic Red Sea views.

To safeguard nearby coral reefs, two specially designed rock pools will offer controlled and environmentally responsible access to the shoreline. Families will also benefit from the Rosewood Explorer’s Club, which will curate immersive and educational experiences designed to inspire environmentally conscious travel among younger guests.

Wellness at the Core: Asaya Spa

Central to the resort’s offering will be the Asaya Spa, positioned discreetly within landscaped surroundings. The spa will feature private treatment pavilions arranged around a protected green oasis, providing a sanctuary for meditation, holistic therapies, and personalised wellness programmes. The wellness experience is designed to align with the broader regenerative vision of the development.

Strategic Expansion in the Middle East

Rosewood AMAALA strengthens Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ expanding presence in the Middle East and reflects the brand’s commitment to entering destinations that combine cultural depth with environmental significance.

By blending ultra-luxury hospitality with renewable energy infrastructure, marine conservation initiatives, and wellness-led design, Rosewood AMAALA aims to contribute to the evolution of sustainable luxury tourism in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea region.
