UAE Advises Private Sector to Implement Remote Work from March 1 to 3, 2026
The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has recommended remote working arrangements for private sector companies from March 1 to March 3, 2026. Employers are advised to minimise staff presence in open areas and enable work-from-home options wherever possible, except for essential roles requiring on-site attendance. The advisory aims to safeguard employees while ensuring business continuity, with further decisions subject to local authority directives.
MOHRE Issues Remote Work Advisory for UAE Private Sector
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has advised private sector establishments across the UAE to activate remote working arrangements where feasible for a temporary three-day period.
The recommendation is effective from Sunday, March 1, until Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Companies are encouraged to reduce on-site workforce presence and limit employee exposure in open or outdoor areas, except for operationally critical positions that require physical attendance.
Measure Aimed at Enhancing Workplace Safety
The temporary advisory is designed to prioritise employee wellbeing while maintaining essential business functions.
MOHRE emphasised that private companies should implement flexible arrangements such as remote work, staggered shifts, or hybrid schedules wherever operationally practical. The ministry also noted that decisions regarding suspension of work or additional modifications remain under the jurisdiction of local competent authorities, depending on evolving developments.
Essential Services to Continue Operations
The ministry clarified that vital roles and services that cannot be performed remotely should continue on-site operations, provided that appropriate safety measures are followed.
Employers are expected to conduct internal assessments to determine which roles can transition to remote work without disrupting service delivery. Clear communication with employees regarding temporary work policies is strongly encouraged.
Businesses Urged to Monitor Official Updates
MOHRE has called on private sector entities to stay informed through official federal and local government channels for any further announcements during the advisory period.
The directive highlights the UAE’s structured and proactive approach to workforce management, balancing operational continuity with employee protection.
By encouraging remote work where possible, the UAE reinforces its commitment to adaptable labour policies that support both business resilience and public safety.
