Hilton Expands Makkah Portfolio with Two New Hotel Conversions

Partnership with Wirgan Hospitality will introduce Tapestry Collection and DoubleTree properties in the holy city

Hilton has announced a strategic agreement with Wirgan Hospitality to convert two existing hotels in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, into Hilton-branded properties. The move will add more than 1,700 guest rooms to Hilton’s portfolio in the city, significantly strengthening the company’s presence in one of the world’s most important religious tourism destinations.

The agreement was revealed during the World Travel Market in London, highlighting Hilton’s ongoing expansion across Saudi Arabia and its commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s fast-growing hospitality sector.

Two hotels to join Hilton’s global brands

As part of the agreement, Wirgan Al Noor will be rebranded under the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a lifestyle brand known for its distinctive, locally inspired hotels. The property will feature 1,386 guest rooms, making it one of the largest hotels within the Tapestry Collection portfolio.

Located close to Jabal Al Noor, a site of major historical and religious importance, the hotel will offer convenient access to several cultural landmarks, including the Al-Zaher Palace Museum and the Zamzam Well.

The hotel will also include extensive guest facilities such as two ballrooms with over 1,100 square meters of event space, multiple restaurants, eight meeting rooms, a fitness center, a children’s club, and shuttle services to the Haram.

DoubleTree by Hilton to debut in Aziziyah district

The second property will open as DoubleTree by Hilton Makkah Aziziyah, located in the Aziziyah district, an area widely used by pilgrims due to its proximity to key religious sites.

The hotel will offer 381 guest rooms and suites along with several guest amenities designed for both pilgrims and leisure travelers.

Facilities will include multiple dining venues, a business center, a children’s club, and transport services connecting guests to the Haram.

The location also provides convenient access to Mina and Jamarat, two important locations for pilgrims performing Hajj rituals.

Hilton strengthens presence in Saudi Arabia

Once the two hotels open, Hilton’s operational capacity in Makkah will exceed 4,100 rooms, further reinforcing the company’s position in the Saudi hospitality market.

Hilton currently operates 21 hotels across Saudi Arabia, with 83 additional properties in the development pipeline, reflecting the company’s long-term investment in the Kingdom.

By introducing the Tapestry Collection brand to Makkah and expanding the DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio, Hilton continues to diversify its offerings to meet the needs of different types of travelers.

Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 tourism growth

Saudi Arabia is rapidly expanding its tourism infrastructure as part of its Vision 2030 economic transformation plan, which aims to attract millions of international visitors annually.

Makkah remains one of the most important global travel destinations due to its spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide. Millions of pilgrims visit the city every year for Hajj and Umrah, creating strong demand for high-quality accommodation and hospitality services.

The partnership between Hilton and Wirgan Hospitality reflects the continued development of the city’s hotel sector and the role international brands play in supporting Saudi Arabia’s tourism growth strategy.
