The United Arab Emirates is preparing to introduce a national passenger railway network, marking a major advancement in the country’s transport infrastructure. Developed by Etihad Rail, the system is expected to begin passenger services in 2026, connecting key cities and regions across the country.

The railway network will link 11 cities and strategic locations through a series of modern stations, creating the UAE’s first integrated intercity rail system. Additional stations are planned in Al Sila’, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira’a, Al Faya, and Al Dhaid, expanding connectivity to more communities and regional hubs.

Passenger Services Expected to Begin in Phases

Passenger train services are scheduled to launch in 2026, with the first phase connecting several key urban areas.

Important station locations are expected to include Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, University City in Sharjah, and Al Hilal in Fujairah. These areas have been selected due to their strategic locations and accessibility to surrounding communities.
